    Frequently Asked Questions

Is Medi-Chi a medical device or a diagnostic tool?

No. Medi-Chi is a clinical decision support and practice management tool for qualified practitioners. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent disease and is not registered as a medical device with the TGA, MHRA, or FDA. Every output is intended as reference material for a practitioner to review against their own clinical assessment.

Can I use Medi-Chi with identifiable patient data?

No. Enter de-identified clinical pictures only — symptoms, tongue, pulse, patterns — and keep identifiable patient records inside your own practice management or EHR system. See the de-identification checklist on the Trust & Security page.

How should I describe Medi-Chi to patients under AHPRA advertising rules?

Describe it factually as a clinical decision support and reference tool that you use to cross-check your own pattern differentiation. Do not describe it as an AI that diagnoses patients, and do not use patient testimonials about it, which are prohibited under section 133 of the National Law.

Is Medi-Chi HIPAA compliant for US practitioners?

No. Medi-Chi does not currently sign Business Associate Agreements and is not a HIPAA-covered service. US practitioners may still use it as a reference tool with de-identified inputs only, and should obtain their own patient authorisation for the use of third-party clinical decision-support tools as required by their board or malpractice carrier.
