    Candidiasis

Also known as: candida infection, candidiasis, oral thrush, vulvovaginal candidiasis, cutaneous candidiasis

Candidiasis is a fungal infection caused most commonly by Candida albicans. It may affect the mouth, skin, nails or genital tract. Risk factors include antibiotic use, diabetes, immunosuppression, inhaled corticosteroids and pregnancy. Antifungal treatment is the mainstay of care. Acupuncture and TCM are adjunctive only and must never replace medical management.
