Cataract (adjunctive support)
Also known as: cataract, cloudy lens, cataract surgery
Cataract is clouding of the eye's lens causing gradual blurred vision, glare and faded colours. Surgery is the only proven treatment and is very safe. Chinese medicine has historically framed cataract as Yuán Yǎn Nèi Zhàng with Liver-Kidney deficiency patterns; Chinese medicine cannot reverse cataract and never delays surgery.

- •Quit smoking and manage diabetes well to slow progression.
- •Update glasses regularly while waiting for surgery.
Cautions & Contraindications
- •Never claim Chinese medicine can dissolve or reverse cataract — this would be a false therapeutic claim.[,]
- •Sudden vision changes are eye emergencies; refer immediately.[,]
When to reassess or seek care again
