    Location

    1.5 cùn lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of L1.

    Actions

    • Regulates the Sān Jiāo and water passages
    • Resolves oedema and promotes urination
    • Strengthens the lumbar region

    Indications

    Oedema, dysuria, ascites, borborygmus, low back pain.

    Regulates the Water passages across all three burners.

    Needling technique

    Perpendicular 0.8–1.2 cùn (below the ribs — safer window than the thoracic Shu points).

    Moxibustion

    Useful for cold-type oedema and Lower Jiāo cold with dysuria.

    Cautions

    Kidney lies deep — do not exceed 1.2 cùn in thin patients.
