An ankle sprain is overstretching or tearing of the ligaments, usually on the outer side after rolling the ankle. Early care is protection, gentle loading and graduated rehab exercises. Chinese medicine treats it as Qi and Blood stagnation in the local channels, with swelling from Damp.

Lifestyle & Diet
- •First 48 hours: protect, relative rest, ice, compression, elevation.
- •Start gentle movement early — full rest delays healing.
- •Progress to balance exercises (single-leg stand, wobble board) once pain allows.
- •Wear supportive shoes; consider taping or a brace for sport.
- •See a physio if not improving in 2 weeks or if the ankle keeps giving way.
