    Location

    1.5 cùn lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of L4, at the level of the iliac crest.

    Actions

    • Regulates the Large Intestine
    • Relieves constipation and diarrhoea
    • Strengthens the lumbar region and relieves sciatica

    Indications

    Constipation, diarrhoea, low back pain, sciatica, IBS.

    Local point for lumbar patterns as well as systemic LI treatment.

    Needling technique

    Perpendicular 1.0–1.5 cùn. Deeper insertion (up to 2 cùn) is used clinically for sciatica.

    Moxibustion

    Warms cold-type diarrhoea and cold in the lumbar region.

    Cautions

    Deep needling near the sciatic distribution — avoid provoking radicular pain.
